Our story
Independent paths, one destination
For decades, Micro and Klaki grew alongside Iceland's seafood industry as separate companies. Micro was founded in 1996 by Sveinn Sigurðsson and Steinn Árni Ásgeirsson; in its early years it mainly serviced Icelandic fishing vessels, before growing into an established high-tech company designing and producing food processing equipment — with more than 40 employees, over 100 customers and more than 25 years of experience.
Klaki traces back to 1972, when Benedikt Sigurðsson established the company to meet a clear need for better conveying solutions in seafood processing. It began with gravity rollers and telescopic conveyors and expanded into fish lifts, pumps, block ejectors and later automation, robotics and machine vision.
Built to support the next generation of seafood production, Mikra helps processors improve efficiency, reliability and performance through practical, integrated solutions.

Klaki is founded
Benedikt Sigurðsson establishes Klaki to meet a clear need for better conveying solutions in seafood processing — starting with gravity rollers and telescopic conveyors.
1996
Micro is founded
Sveinn Sigurðsson and Steinn Árni Ásgeirsson found Micro, servicing Icelandic fishing vessels before growing into a specialist in food processing equipment.
2000s–2020s
Decades of growth
Klaki expands into fish lifts, pumps, block ejectors, robotics and machine vision. Micro grows past 40 employees and 100 customers across the fishing industry.
